Sadok Belaïd, a Tunisian jurist and academic, died on March 7, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on March 3, 1939, he was a longtime professor at Tunis University and later director of Tunis Private University. Belaïd was a member of the Conseil tunisien de la recherche scientifique et technologique, the Association tunisienne de droit constitutionnel, the Académie Internationale de Droit Constitutionnel and the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts.
He also served on the Higher Authority for Realisation of the Objectives of the Revolution, Political Reform and Democratic Transition and ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Constituent Assembly for Ben Arous in 2011.
