Born in Irvington, New Jersey, he played college basketball at Seton Hall University, where he was also on scholarship and contributed to the school’s basketball program. Belliveau went on to play professionally in the American Basketball League and the Eastern Professional Basketball League, winning an EPBL championship in 1954 and earning second-team all-league honors the following year.
After his playing career, he worked in New Jersey as a high school teacher and basketball coach.
