Ron Escheté, an American jazz guitarist, died on May 20, 2026, at the age of 77.
Also known as Ronald Patrick Escheté, he was a seven-string jazz guitarist whose career began in the 1970s. Born in Houma, Louisiana, he started playing guitar at 14 and later studied classical guitar and flute at Loyola University in New Orleans.
He worked in Las Vegas supporting singer Buddy Greco from 1969 to 1970, then moved to Los Angeles, where he played with Dave Pike and Gene Harris. Escheté also taught jazz guitar at community colleges in Southern California, at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, and later at California State University, Long Beach.
