Rolf Birkhölzer German footballer (1. FC Köln dead at age 76

Rolf Birkhölzer, a German professional footballer and goalkeeper, died on March 12, 2026.

Born on 29 September 1949, he began playing football at the age of nineteen with 1. FC Köln.

He also played for KSV Hessen Kassel, VfB Gießen and TuSpo Ziegenhain in a career that lasted 13 years and ended in 1981. Birkhölzer later coached FSV Frankfurt, Schrecksbach, Bad Homburg and TuSpo Ziegenhain. He made seven appearances for Germany‘s youth side.

Rolf Birkhölzer (29 September 1949 – 6 March 2026) was a German professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
