Rob Burgess, a Canadian software executive who led Alias Research and Macromedia, died on December 21, 2025, at age 68.
Born Robert Kenneth Burgess on August 29, 1957, he was chief executive officer of Macromedia from 1996 to 2005 and chairman from 1997 to 2005. He previously served as chief executive of Alias Research from 1991 to 1995.
Burgess grew up in Toronto and earned a bachelor of commerce degree from McMaster University in 1979. He also held executive posts at Silicon Graphics from 1984 to 1991.
