Born in Bugulma in 1945, she trained at the Moscow Art Theatre School, graduating in 1966. Popova was best known for her work in Soviet and Russian productions, including Day by Day, Investigation Led by Experts and A Fight in a Blizzard.
In 1984, she was named an Honored Artist of the RSFSR. She died in Moscow.
