
Paul Schwartz, a Romanian Jewish community leader, died on May 3, 2026, at the age of 86.
He served as president of the Jewish community of Bucharest until his death and was vice-president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania, holding two mandates, the first beginning in 2005. Born in Bucharest on April 1, 1940, Schwartz was a mechanical engineer and developed numerous trade patents for the former 23 August factory in Bucharest, later renamed FAUR after the Romanian Revolution of 1989.
He was married in 1980 and had one son.
