Omololu Meroyi, a Nigerian politician and senator who represented Ondo South in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003, died on July 22, 2026.

Born in Ondo State, he entered the Senate at the start of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic on the Alliance for Democracy platform and took office on May 29, 1999. Meroyi studied at the University of Ibadan, where he earned a BSc in Economics in 1973, and later completed an MSc in Economics at the London School of Economics in 1977.

Before his election to the Senate, he worked with Food Specialities Nigeria and Roro Technical Company and served as chairman of Araromi Rubber Estate from 1995 to 1997.
