Muhammad Kamal Hassouna Palestinian politician, minister of national economy dead at age 84

Muhammad Kamal Hassouna, a Palestinian politician and businessman who served as minister of national economy from 2007 to 2009, died on March 20, 2026.

He was born in Hebron on March 21, 1942, and received his schooling in Madinah before leaving for Egypt to study law at Cairo University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1969. He worked as a lawyer for two years before moving into free trade, where he helped establish several factories and companies, including the Islamic Takaful Insurance Company, Safa Islamic Bank and the Palestinian Mineral Oil Company (Petropal).

He was also a member of the Red Crescent Society in Hebron and president of the Family Planning Society and the Housing Association.

Muhammad Kamal Hassouna (Arabic: محمد كمال حسونة; 21 March 1942 – 21 March 2026) was a Palestinian politician and businessman.
