Max Wideman, a Welsh–Canadian civil engineer and project management consultant, died on June 14, 2026, at the age of 99.
Born Robert Max Wideman in Penarth on January 19, 1927, he was educated at Bedford Modern School and later studied civil engineering, graduating in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science with honours. Wideman went on to become widely known for helping develop the first edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, the Project Management Institute’s foundational reference for project management.
He was also recognized for his extensive free online project management knowledge site and was a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
