Mark Robert Jones, an American screenwriter, film director and producer, died on January 16, 2026.
He wrote and directed the 1993 film Leprechaun, which launched the horror franchise of the same name. Jones also directed and co-wrote the horror film Rumpelstiltskin, wrote for television series including The A-Team and The Highwayman, and wrote and directed the films Triloquist in 2007 and Scorned in 2013.
Mark Robert Jones (January 17, 1953 – January 16, 2026) was an American screenwriter and director and producer in both film and television. He wrote and directed Leprechaun (1993), about the fairy tale character, beginning the horror franchise of the same name, which includes eight films in total.
