Marcelino Miyares Sotolongo, a Cuban–American marketing executive and president of the Christian Democratic Party of Cuba, died on March 12, 2026.
Born in 1937, he became president of the party in the United States in 1990 and wrote its manifesto, “Models for a Peaceful Transition in Cuba.” He earned a PhD in political science from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and later served as a professor of political science at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.
Marcelino Miyares Sotolongo (1937 – March 11, 2026) was a Cuban-American marketing executive and the President of the Christian Democratic Party of Cuba, the largest political party for Cuban independence other than the Communist Party of Cuba.
