Born Louis Junior Grasmick on September 11, 1924, in Baltimore, he was a right-handed pitcher who signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1944 for a $500 bonus and appeared in two major league games for the club during the 1948 season, working five innings in relief. In later years, Grasmick became a Baltimore businessman with long ties to the city’s political and development circles and lived for many years in Phoenix, Maryland.

He was married to former Maryland school superintendent Nancy Grasmick.
