Leon Sirois, an American racing driver, died on September 23, 2026, aged 91.
Known as Leon Duray “Jigger” Sirois, he came from Shelby in northern Indiana and competed across several forms of racing, including midget, stock and Indy big cars. He was the son of longtime Indy 500 mechanic Earl “Frenchy” Sirois, whose career included work on the winning cars of Lee Wallard, Sam Hanks and Jimmy Bryan.
Sirois was named for driver Leon Duray, and his nickname, “Jigger,” came both from family friend Jigger Johnson and from a nickname used by his older sister.
