Coor, an American university administrator and professor of public policy who led the University of Vermont and Arizona State University, died on July 16, 2026. Born in Phoenix on September 26, 1936, Coor graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

He went on to earn his master’s and doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, where he later taught and served as vice chancellor. Coor became the 21st president of the University of Vermont in 1976 and served there until 1989, then served as the 15th president of Arizona State University from 1990 to 2002.
