Kara Braxton, an American professional basketball player who competed in the Women’s National Basketball Association from 2005 to 2014, died on February 21, 2026, at age 43.

Born in Jackson, Michigan, Braxton played for the Detroit Shock and won two WNBA championships during her career. She was born on February 18, 1983, and grew up in Jackson with her twin sister, Kim, and four other siblings.

Braxton attended the University of Georgia, where she was freshman of the year, and graduated in 2005.

Kara Liana Braxton (February 18, 1983 – February 21, 2026) was an American professional basketball player who played in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 2005 until 2014 and won two championships.
