Ali Kutty Musliyar, an Indian Islamic scholar, died on July 23, 2026. Born on February 23, 1945, in Thirurkad in what is now Kerala’s Malappuram district, he became a prominent figure in Sunni Shafi’i scholarship in northern Kerala.
He served as general secretary of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, also known as EK Samastha, and in earlier years was principal of Jami’ya Nooriya Arabic College in Perinthalmanna, a post he held from 2003. He also led Ponnani Maunathul Islam Arabic College as president. Musliyar completed his postgraduate studies in Islamic Studies at Jami’ya Nooriya Arabic College in 1968.
