He was 91. Born José Francisco “El Nene” Sanfilippo in Buenos Aires on May 4, 1935, he began his career in 1953 and went on to play for San Lorenzo, Boca Juniors and Banfield in Argentina, as well as Nacional in Uruguay and Bangu and Bahia in Brazil.
At San Lorenzo, he scored his first league goal against Banfield in November 1953 and finished with 192 league goals for the club through 1962.
