At the 1960 Games, he raced in the Flying Dutchman class with Peter Gray and achieved Ireland’s first win in an Olympic sailing race, finishing 10th overall.
Four years later, he competed in the single-handed Finn class at the 1964 Olympics and placed 23rd.
