Jay Silva, an Angolan-born American mixed martial artist, died on June 1, 2026.
He was 45. Born in Luanda on May 25, 1981, Silva competed as a heavyweight and fought professionally from 2008 until 2026.
He appeared in several major promotions, including the UFC, Bellator, the MFC, KSW and Tachi Palace Fights, after developing an interest in mixed martial arts through the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Silva also trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Renzo Gracie, earned a purple belt and won Grapplers Quest titles in the heavyweight and absolute divisions.
