Ioan Gherhard, the Romanian handball manager, died on May 24, 2026, at the age of 84.
A professional handball coach, he was best known for guiding Chimistul Râmnicu Vâlcea to victories in the IHF Cup and the IHF Super Cup. Gherhard also led Selmont Baia Mare to the final of the 2002–03 Challenge Cup.
Also spelled Ioan Gerhard and known by the nickname “Geri,” he was born on February 26, 1942.
