Immortal Verse, the Irish Thoroughbred racehorse, died on August 7, 2026, aged 18.
Foaled on May 1, 2008, the Irish-bred, French-trained mare emerged as a promising two-year-old by winning on debut and finishing second in the Prix d’Aumale. Her 2011 campaign began poorly, with defeats in her first two starts and a refusal to enter the stalls for the 1000 Guineas, before she rebounded to win the Prix de Sandringham and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She then added the Prix Jacques Le Marois against an international field and later finished third to Frankel in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. After racing, she was sold at auction for 4.7 million guineas, a European record price for a broodmare.
