
Ian Pinard, a Dominican politician and former member of parliament, died on April 17, 2026.
He was 54. Pinard was first elected to the House of Assembly in 2005, representing the Soufrière constituency on the Dominica Labour Party ticket, and served until 2009, when he did not seek re-election because of health-related reasons.
He returned to parliament after the 2014 election and was sworn in on December 12, 2014, as minister for public works and ports. In 2016, he resigned as minister and MP amid allegations that he had inappropriate conduct with an under-aged girl.
