François Potez, a French Roman Catholic priest, died on May 20, 2026, of pancreatic cancer.
Born in 1955, he entered the École navale and graduated in 1976, then served in the French Navy until 1982. He later joined the Community of St.
John, was ordained a priest in 1989, and left the community in 1997 before being incardinated in the Archdiocese of Paris. He served as rector of Saint-Eugène-Sainte-Cécile from 1998 to 2006, of Notre-Dame-du-Travail from 2007 to 2019, and of Église Saint-Philippe-du-Roule from 2022 to 2025.
