Ernie Caffrey, an Irish politician, died on June 7, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born in County Mayo in 1936 and also known as Ernest Caffrey, he was a Fine Gael politician and publican. Caffrey won election to Seanad Éireann in 1997 on his third attempt, taking the Industrial and Commercial Panel seat, and later served on Mayo County Council and Ballina Urban District Council after the 1999 local elections.
He lost his Seanad seat in 2002 and was an unsuccessful candidate in the 1989, 1992, 1997 and 2002 general elections.
