Born on March 16, 1941, in Rubino in what was then French Ivory Coast, he became a figure in the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA) and later held senior government responsibilities. He served as minister of the interior from 1990 to 1999 under the governments of Alassane Ouattara and Daniel Kablan Duncan, a period in which he backed austerity measures and helped direct PDCI-RDA presidential campaigns.
Bombet was imprisoned in 2000 after the 1999 Ivorian coup d’état that removed President Henri Konan Bédié from office. He died in Abidjan.
