Eddie Haas, an American baseball player and manager, died on June 4, 2026, at age 91.
Haas played for the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Braves and later managed the Atlanta Braves. Born George Edwin Haas on May 26, 1935, in Paducah, Kentucky, he graduated from St.
John High School there and signed his first professional contract with the Cubs. An outfielder who batted left-handed and threw right-handed, he reached the majors with Chicago in 1957 and was traded to Milwaukee the following offseason. After his playing career, Haas spent 14 years as a manager or coach in the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves farm system before replacing Joe Torre as Atlanta’s manager after the 1984 season.
