Born on September 29, 1947, in Eriyur in Sivagangai district, Tamil Nadu, he practiced as an advocate in the Supreme Court of India and was educated at Thiagarajar College. Natchiappan also represented India at the United Nations General Assembly on two occasions in October 2008, when he addressed peacekeeping operations and globalization and independence.
