
Don Bryant, the American rhythm and blues singer and songwriter known for “I Can’t Stand the Rain,” died on December 26, 2025, at age 83.
Born Donald Maurice Bryant on April 4, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, he began singing in church at age five and later joined his father’s family vocal group. He went on to sing with a high school gospel quartet, perform as part of The Four Kings, and begin writing songs in 1960 with “I Got To Know” for The 5 Royales.
Bryant also wrote material for other artists at Hi Records and released a solo album in 1969.
