Born in London on July 23, 1950, she built a long screen career from the late 1960s onward. Hall was widely recognised for playing Shirley Johnson in the sitcom Citizen Smith in 1977 to 1979, and later had a recurring role as Sadie in The Bill from 1984 to 1988.

Her early television credits also included an appearance in the On the Buses episode The Epidemic, and she appeared as Shirna in the Doctor Who story Carnival of Monsters in 1973.
