Charlie Dalin, a French offshore sailor who won the 2024–25 Vendée Globe and later shared the 2025 World Sailing World Sailor of the Year award, died on June 11, 2026, at the age of 42.

Born in Le Havre on May 10, 1984, he became one of the leading figures in offshore racing, setting a new record in the solo round-the-world race with a time of 64 days, 19 hours, 22 minutes and 49 seconds. He was also IMOCA world champion in 2021 and 2022, and in 2023 launched his new sailing yacht MACIF, an IMOCA 60 monohull.

Dalin died in Quimper after battling gastrointestinal cancer for two and a half years.
