Charle Young, a Hall of Fame American football player who played tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, died on May 12, 2026, at age 75.
Born in Fresno, California, on February 5, 1951, Young played college football for the USC Trojans and was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 1973 NFL draft. He played 13 seasons in the National Football League, including stints with the Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, 49ers and San Diego Chargers.
He was a unanimous first-team All-America selection in 1972 and set a USC record for receptions by a tight end with 62.
