Bobby Cox, the Hall of Fame former Major League Baseball player and manager, died on May 9, 2026.

Robert Joe Cox was 84. He played for the New York Yankees and managed the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays.

Cox was a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and recorded six 100-win seasons, a mark matched only by Joe McCarthy. He first managed the Braves from 1978 to 1981, then the Blue Jays from 1982 to 1985. He returned to the Braves in 1990 and remained manager until retiring after the 2010 season. Cox led Atlanta to the 1995 World Series championship, and the Braves retired No. 6 in his honor.
