Bjørn Tidmand, a Danish singer, died on May 26, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Copenhagen on January 24, 1940, he began his career in 1959 after singing as a child in the Copenhagen Boys Choir and performing in local nightclubs. Tidmand became known for his recording of a Danish-language version of Sam Cooke’s “Only Sixteen” and for his participation in the 1964 Eurovision Song Contest.
He won Denmark’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1964 with “Sangen om dig,” which took him to Eurovision in Copenhagen.
