He was 92. Albury, whose full name was William Frederick Albury, made his debut for Portsmouth at 16 in a Midweek League match against Tottenham Hotspur in September 1950.
He later played regularly for Portsmouth Reserves while serving in the Army, and after his discharge in 1956 he joined Portsmouth as a professional. He went on to play for Gillingham between 1958 and 1960.
