Bernard Barton, an Irish barrister and Judge of the High Court, died on August 7, 2026, aged 74.

Born Bernard Joseph Barton in Limerick in 1951, he was educated at Glenstal Abbey School, University College Dublin, the Irish Management Institute and the King’s Inns. Called to the Bar in 1977 and made senior counsel in 1997, he built a practice centred on tort, contract and personal injury litigation and also lectured at the King’s Inns.

He served as a Judge of the High Court from 2014 to 2021.
