
Benedetto Santapaola, the Italian gangster better known as Nitto, died on March 2, 2026, in Milan, Italy, aged 87.
He was an Italian Mafia boss from Catania, on Sicily’s east coast, and was considered one of the most powerful and bloodthirsty bosses in Cosa Nostra until his arrest in 1993. Born in Catania on June 4, 1938, he was also known by the nickname il Cacciatore, or “The Hunter.”
