
Sir Barry John Curtis, a New Zealand politician and former mayor of Manukau City, died in Invalid Date, aged 87.
He served as mayor from 1983 to 2007, and when he announced his intention to retire in 2007, he was New Zealand‘s longest-serving mayor at that time. Born in Auckland on 27 February 1939, he was educated at Otahuhu College.
He later studied through the Technical Correspondence Institute in Wellington and the University of Auckland, gaining a Diploma of Town Planning, and went on to work as a town planning consultant and registered surveyor.
