S. Dhaliwal, an Indian Army general, died on May 31, 2026, after a heart attack was announced as the cause.
Lieutenant General Dhaliwal served as Engineer-in-Chief at Army Headquarters from 2006 to 2007 and spent about 41 years in the Corps of Engineers. During his career, he also held appointments in the Military Engineering Service, the Border Roads Organisation and combat engineering roles. After retiring from the army in 2007, he became the first Adviser for Technical and Infrastructure to the Chief Minister of Punjab and later worked with engineering, infrastructure and sports organisations. He had been commissioned into the Corps of Engineers on December 25, 1966, after training at the National Defence Academy, and later earned degrees in engineering and human rights as well as completing a disaster management course.
