Anthony Head, the English actor known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ted Lasso and Merlin, died on June 5, 2026, from complications of pneumonia.
Born Anthony Stewart Head on February 20, 1954, in Camden Town, he studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and began his career in 1978. He came to wider attention in Britain in the 1980s through the Gold Blend coffee advertisements for Nescafé, before going on to a long career across television, film, stage and music.
Among his best-known screen roles were Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and appearances in Ted Lasso and Merlin.
