Alessandro Staccioli, an Italian Roman Catholic prelate who served as vicar apostolic of Luang Prabang and auxiliary bishop of Siena–Colle di Val d’Elsa–Montalcino, died November 4, 2026, aged 94.

Born in Trieste on November 13, 1931, he was ordained a priest of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on March 17, 1956. Pope Paul VI appointed him titular bishop of Taurianum and vicar apostolic of Luang Prabang in Laos on September 26, 1968.

He received episcopal consecration on December 8 that year from Étienne-Auguste-Germain Loosdregt, an Oblate bishop. Staccioli served in Luang Prabang until 1975, when missionaries were expelled from Laos. That same year, he began serving as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Siena–Colle di Val d’Elsa–Montalcino, a post he held until 1990. His elevation to the episcopal order came 12 years after his ordination, while his later appointment brought him to an Italian archdiocese. The two assignments placed his ministry in Laos and Italy. Staccioli was also identified as a theologian, alongside his roles as a Catholic priest and bishop.
