Willie James Taylor, an American basketball player, died on January 29, 2026, at age 79.
Taylor played college basketball for the LeMoyne–Owen Magicians and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 28th overall pick in the 1969 NBA draft. He starred as a center for LeMoyne–Owen from 1965 to 1969 and averaged 18 points and 18 rebounds per game during his senior season.
Taylor was born on September 24, 1946, and played at Henry High School in Byhalia, Mississippi.
