Anderson, an American surgeon and osteopathic physician who played a leading role in the Albany Movement, died on August 8, 2026, aged 98. Anderson was the first African-American to serve on the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Association, a post he held for 20 years and in which he also served as president.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Alabama State University and later attended Des Moines University, where he received his medical degree.
