Virginia Oliver, an American lobster fisherwoman, died on January 21, 2026, at the age of 105.

Born in Rockland, Maine, on June 6, 1920, she grew up on the Neck, a small island connected by a tidal sandbar to Andrews Island. She began lobstering at age 8 alongside her father and older brother.

During the school year, she lived with an aunt in Rockland. Oliver later married Bill Oliver, a lobsterman from Spruce Head, and the couple had four children. She was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest child was 9, then worked at a sardine factory and spent 19 years at a printing press in Rockland before returning to daily lobster fishing with her husband in the early 1970s.
