Tomislav Simović, the Serbian general and retired Yugoslav People’s Army lieutenant colonel general, died on August 20, 2026, aged 91.
Born in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1935, he spent his career in the Yugoslav People’s Army and rose to command the JNA Third Military Region, headquartered in Skopje. He later entered politics and served as Serbia’s minister of defence from July 31 to December 23, 1991, before leaving office after the fall of Dragutin Zelenović’s government and retiring from active military duties in 1992.
In 1993, he co-founded the Association of Military Pensioners of Serbia and was its first president until 1995.
