Thomas E.
Breidenthal, an American Episcopal bishop, died on May 14, 2026, at age 75. He served as the ninth Bishop of Southern Ohio from 2007 to 2020.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on March 3, 1951, he was raised in Europe and the Midwest before his family settled in Eugene, Oregon. He attended the Interlochen Arts Academy, earned a B.A. from Portland State University, an M.A. in English literature from the University of Victoria, and later received his M.Div. He was made a deacon in 1981 and ordained a priest in 1982.
