Ted Craig, an Australian-born British theatre director, died on July 27, 2026, aged 86.
Born in Melbourne on April 20, 1940, he was educated there before moving into Australian television, where he worked as a director for four years and also appeared as an actor. He moved to England in 1964 and joined the Crewe repertory company, later acting and directing in Crewe, Richmond, Folkestone and Harrogate.
From 1985 to 2012, Craig served as artistic director of the Warehouse Theatre in Croydon, where his productions included works by Kevin Hood and Bernard Kops, and he also co-founded the annual International Playwriting Festival with Steve Gooch.
