Tawfique Nawaz, a Bangladeshi lawyer and senior advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, died on August 18, 2026, of complications from a stroke.

He served as director of Transparency International Bangladesh and was married to Dipu Moni. Nawaz studied at Wadham College, Oxford, where he worked as a research associate to Kamal Hossain, and later contributed to legal and policy work in Bangladesh.

From 1979 to 1981, he was a director of the Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs, and in 1993 he held the post of honorary director of the same institution. He also coordinated its Human Rights Project and published The New International Economic Order in 1980.
