Salah Uddin Ahmed, a Bangladeshi politician and former member of parliament, died October 13, 2026, aged 80.

A Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politician, he represented Dhaka-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad, Bangladesh’s national parliament, in two nonconsecutive periods: 1991–1996 and 2001–2006. He was elected to the seat in 1991 and returned in 2001.

In 2018, the BNP nominated Ahmed again as its candidate for Dhaka-4. When he went to vote, he was attacked and injured at the polling station. Ahmed was also named in a police case relating to an incident in January 2015, when a passenger bus was set on fire with a petrol bomb and vehicles were vandalized in front of the Gulistan Toll Plaza of Mayor Hanif Flyover. In August 2015, Wari police filed a chargesheet against 34 people, including Ahmed, alleging that the group had carried out the attack and vandalism. Ahmed became a fugitive in connection with the case. He surrendered to a court in February 2021, was denied bail and was sent to jail.
