Stephen Koch, an American writer, novelist, essayist, historian and teacher, died on February 24, 2026, at age 84.
Born Stephen Bayard Koch on May 8, 1941, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he wrote numerous books of cultural history, two novels and a study of the work of Andy Warhol. He also taught creative writing at Columbia University and Princeton University and was the author of The Modern Library Writer‘s Workshop.
